About Me

Sunday, December 6, 2009

I am a very outgoing person, and love trying new things. I am determined and goal oriented, but know how to balance my work with other aspects of my life. I aim to eventually obtain a doctorate in psychiatry, and assume a career in psychotherapy. Since I was a young child I knew I wanted to be a doctor, and have never thought about any other profession. My fascination with psychology materialized when I took my first psych class in high school. That class and its teacher had a deep impact on me, and made me realize that I wanted to work with psychology.

The passion that I transfer into everything in my life draws its potency from the devotion I express towards it. I love my field of study, and avidly read medical and psychology journals under my own accord. I view community service as a form of salvation because nothing in my life makes me feel a better sense of worth like community service. I devote a good portion of my time to community service every month through organizations that I am a member of. Tennis is another one of my passions. I have played tennis for five years now, and when I played competitively I trained countless hours to keep a competitive edge.

I still express my devotion to my passions every day. I participated in the intramural tennis season, where I made it to the semifinals, and still practice whenever possible at the South Jersey Sports Club. Currently, I am a member of Rider Psychology Club which partakes in a lot of community service. So far we have made Thanksgiving Diner baskets and handmade blankets for poor people. I recently became a member of Circle K, which is a national organization that advocates community service, leadership, and character. We recently made two-hundred peanut butter sandwiches for the Trenton Soup Kitchen.
